Who We Are

We are two women with over 15 years of experience designing evidence-based solutions for programming and evaluation.

We believe program planning and evaluation efforts should be inclusive and innovative. Side of Change Consulting helps bridge the gap between research and practice by finding ways to make existing programs more effective.

We help our partners navigate through the politics of academia to get hands-on with organizations inside and outside of education settings. People who are passionate about helping others cannot always make a difference on the scale they envisioned - this is where we come in! We use our experience to help you design, evaluate, and grow your impact for the population(s) you care about most.

Meet Brittnie

Brittnie’s passion is people; her loved ones would tell you she has “never met a stranger” and thrives in social environments. During her years of schooling and professional development, Brittnie focused on incorporating a “nothing about us, without us” approach, a public health and activist saying which reminds us that we cannot come up with workable or long-lasting change or solutions to our communities’ needs without working alongside them and highlighting their voices. Brittnie has expertise in program management and evaluation, working primarily with historically underserved students, and has nearly a decade of experience in sexual violence and sexual harassment prevention. On the weekends you can find her singing karaoke or cuddling up with her rescue dog, Lucky.

Meet Marissa

Marissa’s passion is education; her loved ones would tell you that she is never afraid to speak up for herself or others, especially in situations of injustice. During her years of schooling and professional development, Marissa focused on how to improve the lives and health outcomes of women and girls in the US and abroad. Marissa has expertise in program planning and higher education. As an educator, Marissa believes in meeting students where they are and utilizing an equity lens for all her lessons and programming. On the weekends, you can find Marissa grabbing a coffee at one of her favorite local coffee shops, likely accompanied by her #1 sidekick, Charlie the Corgi.

What We Do

We help our partners identify best practices to directly address challenges experienced by the populations they serve.

Our mission is to empower organizations, program leads, and educators to broaden their impact through program design, evaluation, and growth.

They may not know it, but we think our partners already have the tools they need to make the impact they want.

We show our partners how to get the most use out of their existing toolbox, as well as add new strategies to help them in all phases of design, evaluation and growth. As two women who have worked extensively with historically underserved groups, we are well-versed in the challenges that may arise when building equity-centered programs and solutions. We see a unique opportunity to help organizations thrive. Their success is our success!
